  • Fever, fatigue, chills, headache
  • Muscle aches and pain, or joint pain

Treatment considerations:
  • For injection site pain, redness, swelling, fever, chills, headache, general muscle achiness or joint pain, consider over the counter (OTC) acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) as long as you are not allergic.

  • Itching at the injection site? Consider an over the counter (OTC) diphenhydramine (Benadryl) or another OTC antihistamine.

  • Symptoms you SHOULD NOT expect after the vaccine:
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath
    • Sore throat
    • Runny nose or nasal congestion
    • Loss of taste or smell

  • These symptoms are not considered side effects of the COVID 19 vaccine and other causes including active COVID 19 infection should be considered. Call your PCP if you are experiencing these symptoms.
